Srinagar, April 10 (KNO) : While strongly condemning the shameful incident in which some lawyers tried to prevent police from filing charge sheet in the court of CJM Kathua in the case of gang rape and murder of 8-year old Asifa Bani, State Secretary CPI (M) Ghulam Nabi Malik Tuesday said some vested interests were trying to derive political mileage out of a brutal and inhuman act.

It is a shameful act and against the human values on part of these lawyers and their political masters, who instead of helping the victim’s family to get justice, behaved like hooligans. The gruesome rape and murder of little Asifa by the enemies of humanity remind us of the challenges confronting our society. The need of the hour is to build a united platform to ensure justice to Asifa and thwart the designs of those who are trying to shield the enemies of humanity. Some vested interests are trying to polarize the communities and Jammu and Kashmir state by giving a criminal act a communal colour.

A criminal is a criminal irrespective of his caste, colour and creed and must be dealt according to law. By evoking emotions and giving communal colour to Asifa’s rape and murder, these fringe elements are committing a heinous crime against the humanity. These anti-social and anti-human elements are trying to politicize the issue to get political mileage out of this shameful act. Not only people cutting across political and ideological differences should unite against this horrific incident, but the Government must take stern action against the accused without showing any leniency to them.
